Enterprise Edition - Workstation EXE/DLL Recommended VersionsThis form allows you to select which version of the Access EXE, Jet, ACE, DAO and ADO DLLs are the recommended version on the Workstation EXE/DLL version screen. The Auto FE Updater utility will assume the latest version depending on the version of Access and , where appropriate, on the version of the operating system, unless you override the choices here.
In the above example screen you can see where several versions have been locked. PCs with newer versions than the locked version will appear on the Workstation EXE/DLL version screen in green. The concept being that you are testing a version of Access or various DLLs that are newer than most workstations. For example you might want to ensure a hotfix solves a problem. Once you've finished testing the EXE or DLL in question and it's generally deployed to the workstations you can then unlock the recommended version. This will then recompute the recommended version on the Workstation EXE/DLL version screen and the various colours should change. You can also copy and past a version from the Other Versions Present field into the Recommended Version field and lock it. This utility will then recompute the recommended version on the Workstation EXE/DLL version screen and the various colours should change. RemarksI chose to assume that the most recent version of the Access EXE or various Jet, ACE, DAO or ADO DLLs is the "best' version. This isn't always true so you can change the recommended version. Also if you only have one or two workstations or Terminal Servers on a given operating system this can be misleading. You should be verifying these version numbers yourself against the various Knowledge Base Articles yourself.
